Gift of the Christmas Moon

This year

There’ll be

A Christmas Moon,

Full and round and rare,

A brilliant wonder to the eye hovering in the air.

The star that led to Bethlehem, a legend in its day,

Fulfilled its destiny to guide, then slowly waned away.

But, this same moon that glows above

Glowed just as bright that night of love

As it will Christmas Eve…

A symbol of God’s constancy, and reason to believe.

Sweet Little Jesus, so it’s told, was laid within a manger:

Sent down that we might know God’s love,

Neighbor, friend and stranger.

His earthly life, much like that star, was brilliant, brief and bold:

He came to walk beside us, as a hand and heart to hold.

That babe, beyond the earth, lives on – Trinity in full bloom:

His promise to redeem us more enduring than the moon.

Eternal life, eternal love: the Magi’s gifts grow pale:

He snaps us from the jaws of sin,

Can quench the lost soul’s bitter wail.

Sweet Little Jesus came to earth and was of Mary born,

So struggling man might know pure love that humble, holy morn.

And still He walks beside us, the saint and the depraved;

To offer comfort, joy and hope, a peace mankind has craved.

His arms reach for us down through time, our burdened souls to lift:

He begs us to accept His love, our only truly priceless gift.

So, yes, there’ll be a Christmas Moon, a wond’rous decoration,

A brilliant wonder from the One who authored all creation.

And, as that full moon glows above,

Recall that far-off night of love

This coming Christmas Eve…

And dwell upon the moments where

God sent us wonders in the air

And, O, my Dears,

Believe.

Christmas Comes....

Imagine....
