Rotary Prayer
August 3, 2022
It’s the midline of the season,
When our days grow short too soon:
It’s the sizzling end of summer
Next eclipsed by Harvest’s moon.
We’ve grown to trust these patterns
Of change upon the Earth:
In the death of every season
Lies the promise of rebirth.
In a world of changes and constant re-creation,
We find comfort in each other
And our close communication.
So, let us pause as seasons flow,
While Nature is unfurled,
To soak in all the beauty of a lushly rural world.
God speaks to us through Nature,
As its cycles waft and wane.
Change is an ever-present theme,
Yet constants do remain.
One constant we can revel in,
One truth that’s plain to see,
Is that part of all creation
Is our own humanity.
That’s why we seek to do good works,
With not a hesitation,
To bring Rotarian brotherhood
To every man and nation.
We ask Your blessing on that work,
The plans and work we do,
That we may benefit mankind,
And be a joy to You.
Amen.
