More Christmas......

Christmas Moon

This week, there’s been a Christmas moon, an ornament on high.

Its beauty whole, or full-eclipsed, a wonder to the eye.

The star that shone on Bethlehem, specific to that day,

Performed its deed to guide and lead, and then it went away.

But, that same moon that shines above, shone brightly on that night of love,

Just as it does this moment…

A model of God’s constancy, and thoughts of Him to foment.

We celebrate the birth of Christ, a babe within a manger.

He came that all might know God’s love,

The neighbor….. And the stranger.

His earthly course, much like His star,

Was Brilliant, Bold and Brief:

He came to meet us where we are, to bolster our belief.

His Life beyond the earth goes on, the Trinity in bloom:

His promise of salvation more enduring than the moon.

Eternal Love, Eternal Life: The Magi’s gifts grow pale.

They save us from our bent to sin,

They quench the lost one’s hopeless wail.

The Baby Jesus came to prove “A little child would lead” them.

He offers gifts of life and love, because, of course, we need them.

And, Jesus-God walks right beside the sinner and the saved.

He offers hope and joy and peace, the comforts man has craved.

Reach out your hand, stretch out the soul, your eyes toward Heaven lift,

To here accept the Saviour’s Love,

Your only Priceless Christmas Gift.
