For Those Who Make the Music.......

This is a deep revision of a similar poem written almost a decade ago. Then, as now, it was in tribute to those who create and enable music in our churches....throughout the year, and most especially, on Christmas Eve. Blessings on all of you!

Song Stars...

Once upon a Christmas Eve, a baby taught us to believe..

Into humanity’s daily grind, a ransom paid for all mankind.

Angels sang as shepherds trembled, then, t’ward Bethlehem they wended.

Where, in a cave so cold and grey, the newborn child of Abba lay.

Jesus, Lord of the Universe, lay in a manger: how perverse!

“No room!” they heard at every door; no loyal subjects to adore,

But only shepherds, charges sleeping, for Christ-Child-King a vigil keeping.

Yet though the world was unaware, the Son of God Himself was there,

While all harmonious Hosts of Heaven sang the wonder God had given.

Above it all a sign was hung, its praises down through history sung:

A star of splendid majesty and proof of age-old prophesy.

It guided the Magi from afar, this mystical and sacred star:

It shone upon the Infant Son, a jewel for God’s Chosen One.

This day, Dear Little Christians, you… are shining gems for Jesus, too.

In this distressed and sinful earth, you’re Heralds of a Saviour’s birth,

You light the way to life, to joy, by singing for that baby boy.

You raise a torch, you lead the way for struggling seekers yet today.

So that those traveling near or far

May chart their course by such a star.

So, shine, dear child, in Christ’s reflection,

Lamp to their feet in clear direction,

And be what God has willed you are,

A Glorious, luminous Christmas Star.

Have a wonderful Christmas
