Technastitude
Welcome to the Brave New World of Technology!
I have a slightly nasty attitude about technology, but only because it has developed a nasty attitude toward me. I created my bank account account. I created my user name, my e-mail address and my password or pin number.
But, it….the account of my bank account…like many a thankless child, has shut me out, refuses to recognize the secret words and numbers we – at least once – had whispered to one another through the ethereal internet world.
It no longer asks me the security questions to which I recall answers previously given….somewhere. But rather, it asks others to which only it, obviously, knows answers. Did I originally give the person’s whole name? Or, was it just the last name? Did I use a title…..Mister or Miss?
Or, at that time, was my favorite teacher someone else entirely?
Who is it protecting me from? Myself, apparently.
The end result is that I have a bank account I can’t access….although, it seems that hackers in Bangladesh can!
I have reward points for several credit cards and hotel conglomerates that I can’t cash in for blenders or Starbucks gift cards.
And, there are upwards of half a dozen old email addresses that are closed to me, but countess others may be using to communicate with abandon. I can only hope they’re having a whale of a good time…..and not spending my money doing it.
I can’t be sure of that, though, because I can’t get into my bank account account.
