Christmas Greetings in the Year Between 2019-2021

Two angels walk into a bar…

“They do not!” some might say….but some do. One of the most Godly and spiritual guys I know (an earthly angel) carries his Bible into the bar at a local bistro and shares as chance allows.

No, he does not stuff the book down their throats….just makes friends…and if they wonder about the book, well….Occasionally, one of his new acquaintances will remark, “I thought Christians didn’t drink.” Well, now and then, some do…..some even swallow!!

We need to not only meet each other where we ARE…but love each other AS we are. I believe we have come a little closer to that in this crazy year. Forget politics and politicians…As many have put it, this year in particular, we have all found ourselves in the “same boat,” and bailing like mad.

So, here is a Christmas poem, our gift and greeting to all. Christmas finds us safe and well….the children and grands also. We can ask no more….and wish you the same.

There

Is a special angel…

Somewhere beyond a cloud,

Who suppresses constant giggles…

And often laughs out loud!

In times of tribulation, this angel takes the stage…

Dispensing antidotes to fear, depression, grief and rage.

So generous with her talents,

This angel of the Lord,

A joyous, faithful servant and purveyor of His Word.

Sometimes she serves in silence, but can belt out a song;

Her range, from shy and gentle, runs to confident and strong,

Inspiring us to use our joy as gifts in Jesus’ name..

Like gold and frankincense and myrrh: yet not quite the same.

Such gifts

Are rarest treasures

On which none can set a price,

For sharing joy is smiled upon by our sweet Jesus Christ.

This year has been a testing ground for joy in all its forms…

Losing confidence and faith with old familiar “norms”.

Our angel has been frantic, launching laughter, tickling folks…

Prompting us to share our joy in letters, cards and jokes.

People have been kinder,

Checking neighbors, helping out…

Pouring love on loneliness, soothing dread and doubt.

Pantries have been busy, yet giving matches need…

Knowing there are aching hearts, not only mouths to feed.

Using social media to send a thoughtful line

Is easily as wonderful as water into wine.

Dickens’ ol’ Bob Cratchit has finally had his way…

For all at once we’re starting

To “keep Christmas” every day.

So, if you’ve been an activist for letting love unfurl,

You’re helping bring some “Christmas” to a raw and suffering world.

And, if you’re a recipient of unexpected love,

Be thankful for that angel who motivates above,

And for the earthly beings, who assist that angel, too…

And giving or receiving,

For the blessing that is…

YOU!

May Christmas bring you love and peace,

The New Year bring you joy,

Thank God in laughter, song and deed

For Mary’s Baby Boy.

Written just for you

By the Q.O.E.

In the year that shall not be named

Happy Birthday to Our Trevor!!!

A Sad Song.....
